The ultimate honor for a racehorse is to be elected into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame. 22 of those honorees, 11 percent of all Hall of Fame members, were foaled and/or raised at Claiborne. Claiborne is also responsible for Canadian Hall-of-Famer Nijinsky II.
Since 1946, the Broodmare of the Year Award has been among the most coveted honors on the American Turf. Claiborne Farm is proud to have been home to 16 of the important matrons which have been voted that honor.
Three generations of Hancocks have shown their ability to bring together an enduring pattern of stallion quality with carefully nurtured female families. On 11 occasions, A.B. Sr., A.B. (Bull) Jr., or Seth W. Hancock topped the list of Leading American Breeders by annual earnings, including 2 Eclipse Awards for Outstanding Breeder.
Additionally, Claiborne’s longtime client Ogden Phipps twice led that list in 1988 & 1989.
