Claiborne’s commitment to quality doesn’t expire when a racehorse has finished their racing or breeding careers. The welfare of the horse is always a priority. Over the years, our partnerships with non-profits and re-homing organizations have led to numerous success stories. Through donations and teamwork, the goal is to make sure every horse that comes from Claiborne retires to a good home. Additionally, at Claiborne we’re proud to have a barn dedicated solely to retirees, a passion project of our own Dell Hancock. Geldings, pensioned broodmares and their companions are tended to daily and ensured a forever home.
In 2018 alone, Claiborne donated nearly $10,000 to support Second Stride, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides professional rehabilitation, retraining, and placement of retired Thoroughbred racehorses.
In the past 5 years (2015-2019), Claiborne’s breeding/stallion operation/divisions have provided over $150,000 in funding for Thoroughbred aftercare initiatives.
