FAQ

We offer guided tours 7 days* a week. On our traditional walking stallion tour, visitors will see our stallions, the breeding shed, and the cemetery. On our seasonal shuttle tour (April - October), visitors will see our broodmare and foaling division. During the months of January and February, we offer tours 5 days a week (no tours on Tuesdays or Wednesdays). We also offer private tours at noon. Since Claiborne Farm is a private working farm, tours are by appointment only and your promptness is greatly appreciated. Please plan to check in at our Visitor Center AT LEAST 5 minutes before your tour time.

NO PETS, NO PICNIC AREA, NO UNAUTHORIZED TOURS
Do we have to have a reservation to get on a tour?
Yes, reservations are required to go on a tour. However, we take reservations up to the morning of a tour, so give us a call or go online!
How much does it cost?
Our traditional walking stallion tour costs $20* for adults and $11 for children 12 and under. Our seasonal shuttle tour through our broodmare and foaling division costs $30* per person. *Peak pricing may apply.
Can children come?
Children are welcome but must be supervised by a parent at all times. Warning: there is typically a brief discussion regarding the Thoroughbred breeding process.
When do you have tours?
Our stallion tours run daily at 10 AM and 11 AM. Our shuttle tour runs twice a week at 1 PM. Please book all tours in advance by purchasing a ticket. We also offer a private tour
Is there a gift shop?
Yes, there is a gift shop. Visitors have the chance to check it before or after the tour, depending on time. Its hours are 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM. It is also online at shop.claibornefarm.com.
Can I request to see certain stallions?
We do our best to let our fans meet the champions; however, no guarantees can be made for any particular showing. Showings are pending the health and welfare of the animals.
I’m driving by and just want to see the cemetery?
We’re sorry, but we cannot accommodate visitors outside of the scheduled tours.
Do the grooms expect a tip?
If you would like to tip, the grooms appreciate it.
Are there places to sit down along the tour?
There are not benches or places to sit down along our stallion tour. There are benches and chairs inside our Visitor Center. The shuttle tour is a seated tour.
What is your cancellation policy? (Visit Claiborne Farm & All-Farm Shuttle Tour)
To receive a full refund, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled tour time. Refunds will not be issued for guests that cancel within 48 hours, do not show up, or for guests that arrive late for their scheduled tour. In general, tours operate rain or shine. Claiborne may, in its sole discretion, elect to cancel a tour due to severe weather or extenuating operational circumstances (with or without advanced notice), in which case full refunds will be issued. You will be notified as soon as possible about any change or cancellation to your experience. Credit card processing fees are always non-refundable.
How long does the tour last?
The Visit Claiborne Farm stallion tour typically lasts 60 minutes. The All-Farm Shuttle Tour typically lasts 90 minutes.
How far in advance do you need a reservation?
When you know what day you’d like to visit, give us a call or book online because the earlier the better. We typically only make reservations for a year out.
Can I see more of the farm?
The walking stallion tour features our stallion division while our seasonal (April - October) shuttle tour takes a drive through our farm and features our broodmare and foaling division.
Is the tour handicap friendly?
This stallion tour is a walking tour that covers about a quarter of a mile. The entire tour is on a paved road, and there is shade along the way. The shuttle tour, on the other hand, is a seated tour; however, the shuttle is not equipped for wheelchairs and requires a step up.

Where do I go once I get to the farm?
Once you arrive at the main gate, please pull down the drive and look for the tour/visitor parking sign and check in for your tour at the Visitor Center. If the parking is full by the Visitor Center, your guide will direct you where to park.
Your times don’t work for me. Can I come...
Since Claiborne is a working farm and the tours are given by our stallion grooms themselves, we cannot offer any other times outside of our normal morning tours. The horses have to be taken care of the remainder of the day!
Do you all accept special groups?
We do our best to accommodate all sizes of groups! Our standard tour is typically capped at 30 people, but we do accept requests for groups with more people.
Is there a public restroom?
We opened up our Visitor Center in August 2016, where there are restrooms for visitors.
Do you offer any private tours of the farm?
We do! We offer a private stallion tour at noon every day we're open to the public for a flat fee of $600* for up to 10 guests (additional guests can be added at a per person rate). Reservations are required and can be made at claibornefarm.com/tours. *Peak pricing may apply.
What is your cancellation policy? (Private Stallion Tour)
Please contact us at 859-987-2330 or [email protected] if you need to make a change to or cancel your private tour. In order to receive a full refund, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled tour time. During peak periods (e.g. Derby, Breeders' Cup etc.), cancellations must be made at least 7 days before the scheduled tour time in order to receive a full refund. Refunds will not be issued for guests that do not cancel within the set time period, do not show up for their scheduled tour, or for guests that arrive late for their scheduled tour. In general, tours operate rain or shine. Claiborne may, in its sole discretion, elect to cancel a tour due to severe weather or extenuating operational circumstances (with or without advanced notice), in which case full refunds will be issued. You will be notified as soon as possible about any change or cancellation to your experience. Credit card processing fees are always non-refundable.
