WAR FRONT’s Safeen Leads Way For Claiborne-Sired Offerings at Keeneland November

WAR FRONT’s graded stakes winner Safeen is headed to Japan after Katsumi Yoshida went to $675,000 to secure her from the Hunter Valley Farm consignment.

A Shadwell Farm-bred, the 4-year-old filly has been an exciting runner on the track with four wins and six other top three finishes in 16 starts for $746,599 in earnings. Her resume got even better after the catalog pages were run with a win in the Listed One Dreamer Stakes in September.

It was the third stakes win for the mare, who also has three other stakes placings to her name.

Safeen is a granddaughter of the Grade 3 winner Cozzy Corner, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Riskaverse. That mare produced the Grade 3 winning dam of Grade 1 winner Fog of War.

Burger Racing Stable went to $310,000 to secure WAR FRONT’s stakes placed daughter Gun Boat from Claiborne Stable, who was selling her on behalf of Stuart Janney.

Gun Boat is one of two runners out of the Grade 3 winning BLAME mare Onus, who is a three-quarter sister to BLAME’s stakes winning Acting Out. Acting Out is out of her half-sister, who also produced the stakes placed Warp Ride with another sister producing multiple graded stakes placed Limited Liability.

This family also includes WAR FRONT’s Grade 2 winning daughter On Leave, who is one of six stakes winners and seven stakes performers from nine winners out of the stakes placed Meghan’s Joy.

WAR FRONT is also the sire of the foal BLAME’s stakes winning daughter In A Hurry is carrying.

Purchased by Manzanita Stable for $600,000 from the same dispersal as Gun Boat, she is carrying her second foal on an April 9 cover. The winner of four races with nine other top three finishes for $306,916 in earnings, she comes from another strong family. She is a half-sister to the stakes placed Romp out of Grade 3-placed Scampering, who was third in the same Grade 3 In A Hurry placed in.

Out of the multiple stakes winner Miz United States, Scampering is a half-sister to BLAME’s stakes winner Exaggerated and Grade 3-placed Ameribelle. Multiple sisters also produced stakes performers.

BLAME himself saw one of his in-foal mares sell for $245,000 to Gainesway Farm from the John Hendrickson dispersal.

Carrying her second foal by BLAME, winning mare Bird Empress is a sibling to three stakes performers led by her Grade 2 placed full sister Bird Maker. Three of her half-sisters also produced stakes performers, led by Grade 3 winner Pretty Birdie. This is also the family of champion Bird Town and multiple Grade 1 winner Birdstone.
