ANNAPOLIS Kicks Off Keeneland September with Exciting Offerings

It’s a quartet of offerings for ANNAPOLIS early at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale with four offered in the first three books of the sale.

A colt consigned by Claiborne sells during the second day of Book 1 as Hip 286.

Bred by Bass Stables, the colt is the first foal out of Grade 1-placed Kaling. That mare is one of five winners out of Proud Indian, whose daughters also include the dam of stakes winner Runnin On Promises. Proud Indian is a half-sister to the multiple Grade 3-placed Here I Go, who produced Grade 1 winner and stakes producer Summerly.

Each of Kaling’s first seven dams have produced at least one stakes performer with most producing stakes winners. She had an ANNAPOLIS filly in 2026.

Hip 1194 offered by Gainesway is also a first foal as a daughter of Curlin’s Star Packer.

Bred by MKW Racing and Breeding, this filly is a granddaughter of the stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Flattering Bea. That mare is one of three stakes performers out of her stakes placed dam with Wild Bea also producing the stakes winning Doctor Jeff and Grade 2-placed Queen of Beas.

This cross is the reverse of the Curlin x War Front daughter cross that produced Grade 2 winner Ocean Club and Grade 3 winner Grande among seven stakes performers from 24 runners overall.

Killora’s homebred Hip 1656 comes into the ring with an update as a half-sister to the dam of Saratoga Derby (G1) second West End Kid.

That colt is also a Grade 3 winner and placed in the Belmont Derby (G1) as well. This yearling filly is also a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Starting Over and to Grade 3-placed Into Vanishing. Their stakes placed dam Vanishing is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Smart Bid and stakes winners and graded stakes placed Representing and Deal Making.

In all, Vanishing’s Grade 3 winning dam has produced four stakes performers from seven winners and is also the granddam of Grade 2 winner Anthony’s Cross and Grade 2 winner Fugitive Angel among others.

The final ANNAPOLIS offering in the first three books is Hip 1680 from breeder Blandford Stud.

That filly out of Yabba is a half-sister to three winners from three runners. Yabba’s best runner so far is the Grade 3 winner and Grade 2-placed Highway Robber with the mare also producing seven-time winner For Fun. Yabba is out of the stakes winner See The Wind, who is one of three stakes performers for the stakes winner Spinnakers Flying alongside Grade 3 winner Fly Smartly and Grade 2-placed Longship.

ANNAPOLIS has 38 yearlings cataloged for the Keeneland September Yearling Sale with the sale running from September 14 to 26.
