Keeneland November’s Book 3 saw MASTERY take center stage when the stallion had two in-foal mares sell for $200,000 or more.
The regally-bred Trophy Wife led his offerings when the Claiborne-consigned mare was purchased by Gainesway for $340,000 to be the second most expensive offering of the fourth session.
Pregnant to MASTERY after having a colt by More Than Ready this year, Trophy Wife is already the dam of two stakes performers from four runners with Tempted Stakes second Power Move and listed-placedHigh Tech leading the way. The mare’sfour foals are all winners.
She comes from an illustrious family as a daughter of Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, who has produced two stakes performers. Pleasant Home was also in the headlines this week as the dam of Fasig-Tipton November’s $5.2 million sales topper Magical World and that mare’s $4.4 million daughter Guarana with Magical World also producing stakes winner Magic Dance.
In all, three of Pleasant Home’s daughters are stakes producers including Trophy Wife.
“(Gainesway CEO) Antony Beck loved her and we thought it was a great opportunity to get into an amazing family,” bloodstock agent Larkin Armstrong told Blood-Horse after signing the ticket. “We loved Guarana and Magical World, they obviously bought several million (at Fasig-Tipton), so hopefully we can get some nice foals from this mare.”
Avocet Bloodstock was the buyer on the $200,000 Factorofwon, bred to MASTERY. A stakes winning mare, Factorofone was the seventh most expensive in-foal mare of the fourth session.
She is a three-quarter sister to WAR FRONT’s stakes-placed Act with the pair out of Pulpit’s stakes winning B R’s Girl. Offered by Candy Meadows Sales, the mare was the winner of nearly $195,000 in earnings and also comes from the family of stakes winner Laila’s Punch, who produce Grade 1-placed Colorful Charades.
Factorofwon was covered by MASTERY on March 11.
Nine mares in foal to MASTERY are set to go through the ring during the second week of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale. The stallion also has seven weanlings from his third crop set to go through the ring.
