ANNAPOLIS made a huge splash with his first crop at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when his offerings were led by a $275,000 filly purchased by McElroy and Elliott.
Offered by breeder Killora, the filly had an update when her half-sister’s colt West End Kid was second in the Saratoga Derby (G1). West End Kid is a Grade 3 winner and placed in the Belmont Derby (G1) as well.
In addition to that colt’s dam, this yearling filly’s half-siblings include four winners, led by Grade 2 winner Starting Over and Grade 3-placed Into Vanishing. Their dam Vanishing was stakes placed herself and is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Smart Bid and stakes winners and graded stakes placed Representing and Deal Making.
In all, Vanishing’s Grade 3 winning dam Recording has produced four stakes performers from seven winners with her daughters and granddaughters producing eight stakes performers, led by Grade 2 winner Anthony’s Cross and Grade 3 winner Fugitive Angel.
A half-sister to Grade 3 winner Highway Robber sold for $260,000 to 3C Stables from the Blandford Stud consignment in Book 3.
Her dam Yabba has produced three winners overall with Highway Robber leading the charge as a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed runner. Her other runners also include seven-time winner For Fun and the winning Madam Mitole. Yabba’s granddam is the stakes winner See the Wind, who is one of three stakes performers out of stakes winner Spinnakers Flying alongside Grade 3 winner Fly Smartly and Grade 2-placed Longship.
Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners were the buyers of a $250,000 Claiborne offered colt out of Grade 1-placed Kaling.
Bred by Bass Stables he is the first foal out of his dam, who also had an ANNAPOLIS filly this year. Kaling is one of five winners out of Proud Indian, whose daughters also include the dam of stakes winner Runnin On Promises. Proud Indian’s multiple Grade 3-placed half-sister Here I Go produced Grade 1 winner and stakes producer Summerly.
Each of Kaling’s first seven dams have produced at least one stakes performer with most producing stakes winners. On her page alone there are 25 stakes performers named with eight stakes winners.
Other yearlings by ANNAPOLIS brought $170,000, $150,000, $140,000, etc. with buyers taking home his yearlings including Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Kenny McPeek, Holly and David Wilson, Tessa Walden, and many other prominent buyers.
