It was a second straight stakes victory for BLAME’s Crazy Frazy at Gulfstream Park on Saturday when she won the Aventura Stakes.
Trained by Jorge Delgado for Lea Farms, she was making her first start away from Monmouth Park in the one-mile dirt race and immediately dealt with a challenge when bumped hard at the start. Quickly into stride after that, she pushed the leader down the backstretch before dropping a few lengths behind in the turn.
Coming into the stretch five wide, she closed strongly entering the final furlong and collared the leader near the sixteenth pole. Once she had the lead, she started pulling away to win by 1 ¼ lengths to take her record to three wins in five starts.
Crazy Frazy hails from the Charles Fipke breeding program and is out of a half-sister to BLAME’s stakes-placed Inventing Blame. The filly hails from one of the best families in the stud book with her third dam being the champion racemare and bluehen broodmare Miesque.
Miesque produced champions such as Kingmambo and East of the Moon among her many stakes winners with her descendants also including Grade 1 winners Alpha Centauri, Alpine Star, Discoveries, Karakontie, Study of Men, Rumplestiltskin, Tapestry, Loves Only You, and many more.
BLAME is the sire of five stakes winners and 11 stakes performers in 2024 with that group including Grade I-placed Epic Ride, who also ran in this year’s Kentucky Derby (G1).
