The first of MASTERY’s offerings is Hip 65, a half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Secret Circle. Offered by Lucan Bloodstock and also a half-brother to two other winners out of multiple stakes winner Ragtime Hope, the colt was bred by top thoroughbred nursey Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings. A $100,000 short yearling purchase at the 2020 Keeneland January Sale, Hip 157 consigned by Gayle Woods is out of a granddaughter of bluehen mare Felicita. This colt’s dam Shannon Faith already has a multiple winner from her first to race and she herself is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2-placed Northern Giant. Felicita is also the dam of multiple Grade 1 winner and 2013 Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady, who is also the dam of champion Will Take Charge, Grade 1 winner Take Charge Indy, and to the dam of champion Take Charge Brandi and multiple Grade 1 winner Omaha Beach. <Watch walking video here.>

A granddaughter of multiple stakes winner and top broodmare, Hip 337 is offered by A B Thoroughbreds only weeks after her half-brother Ghazaaly broke his maiden at Keeneland. Hip 387 is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Haveulostyourmind, who added another win to his record after the catalog was released. Their Tiznow dam Where’s Poppa is a half-sister to graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Decelerator, who is also the dam of Group 2 winner Nafaayes. The filly bred by Milan Kosanovich has stakes form under each of the dams on her page with horses such as Grade 1 winners Fabulously Fast and City Of Light named under her third dam.

Bred by Candy Meadows LLC and sold for $250,000 to North London Bloodstock at last year’s Keeneland September Sale, the colt sees three stakes horses under his stakes winning granddam. That group includes his dam’s Grade 3-placed full sister Strawberry Tequila.
Looking to become a third generation stakes winner is the Julie Davies-consigned Hip 714. The filly is out of Grade 2 winner Designer Legs, whose own dam in the multiple stakes winner Elegant Designer. Bred in Ontario by Saintsbury Farms, this filly also sees multiple stakes winner Satan’s Pride on her page.
Out of a Grade 3-placed half-sister to Grade 1 winner Noble Bird comes Hip 723 from Woodford Thoroughbreds. Bred by Jack Swain III, the filly is a half-sister to two placed runners for her dam Dido, who herself was a multiple stakes placed mare. A $130,000 yearling purchase bred by Justice Farm and McCann Bloodstock, the filly is closely related to her dam’s three time winner Dos Vinos – with all those wins coming in six starts. Out of Distorted Humor mare Gatorette, the filly sees multiple stakes winner Soonerette among the runners under her stakes winning second dam with eight further stakes winners under her third dam.
A grandson of stakes winner and stakes producer Taxable Deduction goes through the ring as Hip 843 for Ocala Stud. An Illinois-bred colt out of Giant Deduction bred by Team Block, he also saw horses under both his first and second dams earn placings to their records after the catalog was released. A winner at three, the Giant’s Causeway mare Giant Deduction is a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes winner Free Fighter, graded stakes winners Suntracer and Leading Astray, and stakes winner Corrupt.
Another MASTERY with a strong family behind him is Hip 914 from Blas Perez Stables. The colt is the third foal out of the Sky Mesa mare Hope Rules, who saw her 3-year-old daughter American Bourbon win after the catalog was released. Hope Rules herself is a half-sister to three stakes horses led by Grade 1 winner Funny Moon. MASTERY’s second-to-last offering is Hip 992, the second foal out of Grade 2 winner Lady Sabelia. That mare is is also a half-sister to stakes-placed Jen’s Revenge. Bred by Mrs. Frank Wright, the filly’s family also includes stakes-placed My Sweet Alesia. A proven family of winners, the filly’s second, third, and fourth dam have produced 15 winners between them.
MASTERY’s top crop of juveniles goes all the way to the end of the sale with Hip 1020 from S G V Thoroughbreds his final offering of the week. This St. Elias Stables is a half-brother to the multiple graded stakes winner Spanish Mission and the stakes winning, Grade 2-placed Mokarris. Spanish Mission has been busy since the catalog was released, finishing second to Gifts of Gold in the valuable Red Sea Turf Handicap in Saudi Arabia in February and just a few lengths out of the placings in the Dubai Gold Cup (G2) in late March.
Out of a stakes winning mare, Hip 1020 also has Grade 1 winner Talco under his second dam and Irish 2000 Guineas (G1) winner Bachelor Duke under his third.
