WATERWAY RUN won her second graded event taking the 1 1/16-mile Beaugay S.-G3 on the turf on the opening weekend of Belmont Park. Reserved just off the pace, the 4-year-old filly byARCH was three wide going into the stretch, gained the lead with a sixteenth to go and dug in to get the win by a neck. Last time out, WATERWAY RUN took the lead in midstretch and battled gamely to the wire to a photo finish, beaten just a nose in the G3 Hillsborough S. At two,WATERWAY RUN won three of her first four starts, including the Sakhee Oh So Sharp S.-G3 at Newmarket by 1/2 length. Bred out of the Dixieland Band mare, Princess Consort, by Dorothy Alexander Matz, she is trained by Chad Brown for Martin S. Schwartz.
