WAR OF WILL’s Curahee added a second win to his resume on Thursday with a win in a Fair Grounds Allowance Optional Claiming race to follow up two second place finishes in recent months.
Also fourth in a stakes in September, Curahee made easy work of this race when going straight to the front in the 1 1/16 mile dirt race. He never faced serious pressure and kept about a length in front of the other runners throughout the early and middle stages.
Curahee added extra distance with just over a quarter mile left to race and coasted to a 1 ¼ length win with the third placed runner nine lengths behind.
Trained by Brittany Russell for DARRS Inc, Curahee has finished in the top two in four of his six starts for $112,291 in earnings.
The Lothenbach Stables-bred is out of BLAME’s Blameitonthemusic, a half-sister to Grade 3 winner She Can’t Sing and Grade 3-placed Sandman. This is also the family of Grade 1 winners Music Note, Musical Chimes, and Mystic Guide.
This is the second winner in five days for WAR OF WILL, whose son Walking In Memphis led home an exacta at the Fair Grounds on Saturday.
