It was another debut winner at Woodbine for WAR OF WILL on Saturday when Patriotic War won by three lengths.
Kicking off her career going six furlongs on the synthetic track, the Gary Barber homebred broke out at the start but was quickly on her way to the lead. She was given an easy time by the rest of the field when racing under a loose hold without pressure around the turn. I
It wasn’t until the stretch that the filly had to repel a challenge, but that happened quickly and she pulled away to win by three lengths at the line.
The Mark Casse trainee has put in some impressive works at Woodbine before this start, including the fifth fastest work in her final breeze before the race.
The filly is out of the winning Munnings mare Super Patriotic. That mare is a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes winner Diamond Oops and stakes winner Patriotic Diamond in addition to the stakes placed Viva la Red. Patriotic Diamond is also the dam of stakes winner and Grade II placed Diamond Wow among others.
This is the 12th winner for WAR of WILL, whose runners include three stakes performers.
