On the same day he saw juvenile son Ancient Rome nearly win a French Group 1, WAR FRONT also saw son War Machine lead home a Claiborne-sired Alloweance exacta at Keeneland.
Bred and raced by Mt Brilliant Farm, the 3-year-old went off as the second choice behind BLAME’s Caveat Emptor in the one mile turf race with the bettors proving to have the right idea.
War Machine broke well and immediately controlled the race while feeling a little pressure while Caveat Emptor bided his time a few lengths behind. The battle didn’t get serious until Caveat Emptor found another gear in the final furlong and War Machine had to dig deep.
The pair were within a head of each other at the line as War Machine registered his second win in his last three starts. Caveat Emptor has had a similarly successful season with four top two finishes in his six starts this year, including a 5 ¼ length romp at Kentucky Downs last out.
One of the 83 winners for WAR FRONT in 2021, War Machine is a half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Sweet Loretta and stakes-placed Bridlewood Cat out of the stakes-placed Ithinkisawapudycat. That mare is a half-sister to Canadian champion Spring In The Air and out of a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Tejano Run and Grade 2 winner More Royal.
WAR FRONT is having another stellar year in 2021 with 24 stakes performers, 10 stakes winners and five Grade 1 performers, the third best number of Grade 1 horses in North America this year.
