WAR FRONT Doubles Up at Kentucky Downs with Goliad

It was a second Kentucky Downs stakes winner of the week for WAR FRONT on Saturday when Goliad won his second straight race in the Mint Millions Stakes (G3).

It was almost déjà vu in the one-mile race when the WAR FRONT son went straight to the lead just like his daughter had done on Thursday. The gelding held an advantage throughout with a clear margin between him and the rest of the field coming into the straight.

Jockey Flavien Prat asked for more as the field entered the stretch and Goliad responded well to win by a length.

Trained by Richard Mandella for Perry and Ramona Bass, it was the sixth win for the 7-year-old, who has 11 top three finishes in 20 starts for $1,758,571 in earnings.

Goliad is one of five stakes performers out of Choreograph and one of three stakes winners for the mare alongside Welcome Dance and Dancing To Town. Welcome Dance also produced Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Ice Dancing.

Both of WAR FRONT’s stakes winners this week are out of Dynaformer mares with the stallion having five stakes winners from 17 runners bred on the cross. Three of those winners won stakes at Kentucky Downs.
