Value Sire ALGORITHMS Registers Belmont Double

It was an impressive double for ALGORITHMS at Belmont Park on Friday when the stallion’s two winners won by a combined 7 3/4 lengths between them on both the Belmont dirt and turf.

The celebrations got started early on the card when ALGORITHMS’s Barista Vixen won over 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt in the fourth race for her third victory in four starts this year.

Breaking from the widest position, Barista Vixen quickly angled in under Hector Diaz Jr to race in the leading group of the field. Just behind the pacesetters, Barista Vixen made her move in the turn and was taking over the lead by the time the field entered the final quarter.

The 4-year-old Wayne Potts-trained filly easily extended her lead with every stride down the Belmont stretch to record a 4 ¾ length victory as the favorite. It was the second consecutive victory for the filly, who broke her maiden in January and missed by just a nose in her next start.

Three races later, My Lips Are Sealed showed off ALGORITHMS’s versatility with a victory over a mile on the turf.

Breaking on top, the George Weaver trainee immediately went to the lead and settled comfortably under Eric Cancel. My Lips Are Sealed had someone at her hip every inch of the way until they entered the straight and she kicked away.

A few horses made runs at the lead but no one could come near her as she galloped away in the final furlong to win by three lengths over the favorite.

Both fillies come from value sire ALGORITHMS’s 2017 crop with My Lips Are Sealed a homebred for Team Block and Rich Ege and the Glass Half Full Farm-bred Barista Vixen winning for River Card Stable.

That 4-year-old crop has 76.5% runners and 71% winners, led by the stakes winning Hypothesis and South Bend with four stakes performers in all.
