Yearling sales season has officially arrived and ANNAPOLIS is front and center with five yearlings headed to the Fasig-Tipton July Sale.
All five of ANNAPOLIS’s offerings come in with plenty of stakes form in their immediate family to back up their potential. One of his yearlings is out of a stakes winner, one yearling’s dam produced a stakes horse and is a half to a stakes winner, and three of his yearlings have a dam whose sibling is a stakes winner. The first through the ring comes just six hips in when Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa offers the second foal out of winning American Pharoah mare Berenice.
This will be the second time through the ring for the Eolus Bloodstock-bred filly, who sold for $105,000 as a weanling at Keeneland from Claiborne’s consignment. Her dam is a half-sister to the stakes winning Arrowthegreat and to Cynane, who is by another WAR FRONT son in Omaha Beach.
This is a page buyers won’t want to miss out on with her stakes placed third dam seeing three stakes performers under her name as just another producer out of the great broodmare Matlacha Pass. Matlacha Pass is also the dam of Grade 1 winners Point of Entry and Pine Island among her five stakes performers.
Berenice has another ANNAPOLIS foal in the pipeline with the mare foaling a filly by the stallion in February.

Bred by Lazy Lane Farms in Virginia, the March-born filly’s dam Bonnie Rose has produced four winners from her six to race. Bonnie Rose is one of eight winners out of Rixa, whose runners are led by Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Remilly.
Every dam on this page has produced at least one stakes performer with each of the next three dams off the page following the tradition. In all, there are 24 stakes performers named on this page with six winning Grade 1s – including the filly’s third dam.

Bred by Health Wood Co in Kentucky, this is the second foal out of that Point Of Entry mare, who is a half-sister to the stakes winning Catman. They are out of multiple stakes placed Fab Flowers, a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner Exotic Wood. That mare was also a stakes producer with her son Key to Power winning a stakes and four of her daughters producing stakes horses.
Fab Flowers is also a half-sister to the stakes winning J. D. and Water, who produced two stakes performers and was the granddam to two others.
In all, Fab Flowers is one of four stakes producers out of J. D. Flowers with 18 stakes horses led by 10 stakes winners.
Forbush Farm’s Hip 136 comes through the ring with a few updates after his dam Paula’s Pistol’s half-sister recently won the Ruffian S. (G2) for her 11th win in 18 starts.
That winning Mineshaft dam’s half-brother Mr. Ripple added the second update with a sixth career victory with the gelding also having a fourth in a Grade 1 on his resume. The yearling colt’s dam Paula’s Pistol is one of 10 winners from 10 to race out of the stakes winning Palace Pier with nine of those winners scoring multiple victories. Paula’s Pistol herself is the dam of two winners from three to race, led by nine-time winner It’s Saul Right.
This page has plenty of bold type with Grade 3 winner Cairo Cat, stakes winner and Grade 2 placed Union Place, and Artful Ballerina also winning stakes with two others earning stakes placings.
The final through the ring for ANNAPOLIS is Hip 139, a Taylor Made-offered colt out of winning BLAME mare Philly Special.
This is the second out of that mare, whose first is placed this year in Saudi Arabia. Philly Special is out of multiple winner Justasprinkle, who has eight winners from eight to race. That group is led by multiple stakes winners Justalittlesmoke and Portales in addition to the stakes placed Hazy Command. This page also includes 29-time winner Leaping Plum, whose wins include seven stakes victories.
