Patrica Pavlish’s WAR OF WILL homebred Peace Cloud sent his owner to the winner’s circle on Friday with a Maiden Special Weight victory at Tampa Bay.
The 3-year-old didn’t give anyone else a chance at the lead in the one-mile turf race, immediately going to the lead after the break. Breaking from the widest gate, he made his way inside where he set the pace by about a length.
Jockey Hector Diaz Jr. asked for a little more in the turn before riding him out to the line for a deceivingly small 1 ½ length margin.
Trained by Timothy Hamm, it was the second start for Peace Cloud – who has been the second fastest worker in two of his last three breezes.
The sophomore is out of the four-time winning Flatter mare Cloud Charmer, who is a half-sister to stakes winner and graded stakes placed Tapa Tapa Tapa and Grade 2 placed Cloudy Vow among others.
Cloud Charmer’s first four dams have all produced at least two stakes performers.
Cloud Charmer has a SILVER STATE 2-year-old filly and a WAR OF WILL yearling filly.
