It was a second winner of the day for WAR OF WILL on Saturday when Gary Barber’s stakes placed homebred War Signal broke her maiden in her third start.
Tackling just over a mile on Woodbine’s synthetic surface, War Signal was strong out of the gate and immediately went to the front. She wasn’t giving the rest of the field a chance to challenge for the lead, opening up a few lengths and extending that lead from there.
The race was nearly a paid workout for the filly, who easily won by 4 ¼ lengths in the end.
Trained by Mark Casse, this victory came just two weeks after she finished third in the Shady Wells Stakes in November.
War Signal is one of three winners out of the Grade 3 winning Uchenna, who is one of three stakes performers out of Grade 2 winner Uriah. That mare also produced the stakes winning King Dancer and stakes placed Unleashed in addition to the dam of the multiple stakes placed City of Stars.
Uchenna has a yearling WAR OF WILL colt named Will Win and a weanling colt by the stallion as well.
