RUNHAPPY’s talented son Happy Medium put in another impressive performance Saturday afternoon with a seven length romp at Aqeuduct to earn TDN Rising Star honors.
Looking for his third straight victory in an Allowance Optional Claimer, the 3-year-old broke like a rocket under Manny Franco to quickly open up a length on the field.
The Michelle Nevin trainee extended his lead throughout the 6 ½ furlong dirt race and was not to be caught. Eased in the stretch when it was clear he had secured the win, Happy Medium crossed the line seven lengths in front with the race third place finisher finishing 10 ½ lengths behind him.
Purchased by racing owner Jay Em Ess Stable for $300,000 as a yearling, Happy Medium has turned into a superstar in the making with his three wins this fall coming by a combined 21 ¼ lengths. He has never finished worse than third with that lone non-win coming in March over this track.
Bred by Colts Neck Stables, the gelding is the third TDN Rising Star for RUNHAPPY, who has turned into a star himself as a top second-crop stallion in addition to being second by juvenile stakes winners among all stallions.
