POMOLOGY Just a Short Head back in G1 Prix Vermeille

Multiple GSW POMOLOGY was undefeated in four starts going into the prestigious Qatar Prix Vermeille-G1 at Longchamp. The 4-year-old filly by ARCH took the lead soon after the break in this grueling 1 1/2-mile test on the turf that was rated good. POMOLOGY remained in front until challenged by the eventual winner who had squeezed in along the rail with less that a quarter mile to go. The two battled head-to-head the rest of the way with the winner barely stretching her head in front at the wire. Last year in her third and final start of 2013 and her stakes debut, POMOLOGY won Deauville’s Prix Minerve-G3, then opened up her 2014 campaign with a 2 1/4-length win in the Bet365 Lancashire Oaks-G2 at Haydock. A $250,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Sales graduate, POMOLOGY is out of the stakes-winning mare, Sharp Apple, by Diesis (GB), and was bred in Kentucky by Dr. John A. Chandler. She races for HRH Princess Haya of Jordan and is trained by John Gosden.
