Orb colt fetches $190,000 at Fasig July Sale

A strapping colt by Orb was among the top 20 hips sold at the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale July 12. Out of the Speightstown mare Mullins Bay, full/half sister to three stakes winners and from the family of Strike the Gold, the colt was purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners for $190,000. He was bred in Kentucky and consigned by Four Star Sales.

Orb, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Florida Derby, is represented by 1st-crop yearlings. Last year, he ranked as the #1 Freshman Sire of weanlings as well as the top freshman covering sire. His weanlings sold up to $300,000 and mares in foal to Orb brought as much as $1.1-million.

The son of Malibu Moon out of Lady Liberty (Unbridled) stands at Claiborne Farm for $25,000.
