NAKANO, BY FIRST SAMURAI, WINS STAKES AT CALDER

NAKANO won the 5-furlong Connie Ann S. at Calder on September 3. The 4-year-old daughter of FIRST SAMURAI stalked then pace, then drew clear in the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths. Trained by Marty Wolfson, NAKANO has won or placed in all five of her starts this year. In her previous three starts, she was stakes-placed three times, including a third place finish in the Princess Rooney S.-G1. Ridden by Luis Saez, NAKANO is owned by Thoroughbred Futures Racing. She was bred in Kentucky by Hubert Vester and is out of the Mr. Prospector mare Spring Morning. She is the 7th stakes winner to represent First Samurai in 2012.
