HALF-BROTHER WINS ANOTHER GRADED STAKES

Zayat Stables’ JUSTIN PHILLIP, by Claiborne’s FIRST SAMURAI, rallied in the stretch to win the Count Fleet Sprint H.-G3 at Oaklawn Park.  A half-brother to Claiborne stallion ALGORITHMS, the 5-year-old stalked the pace, then ran down his competition to win by three-quarters of length going the six furlongs in 1:09.63.  Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Richardo Santana Jr., JUSTIN PHILLIP has won or placed in 17 races.  He previously won the Woody Stephens S.-G2 at Belmont Park and was runner-up in the King’s Bishop-G1 at Saratoga.

A $400,000 Keeneland September sale yearling, JUSTIN PHILLIP was bred in Kentucky by Overbrook Farm.  In addition to ALGORITHMS, he is a half-brother two other Graded stakes winners.
