In a day that saw Claiborne stallions sire three stakes winners and one Grade 1-placed juvenile, FLATTER joined the party with his son Accredit winning the Listed Big Ass Fans Dueling Grounds Derby.
Racing over 1 5/16 miles on the unique Kentucky Downs course, Accredit proved to take to the yielding turf like a duck to water. The FLATTER son immediately took the lead and set the pace with Martin Garcia aboard.
Garcia asked for Accredit’s best in the stretch and was immediately rewarded as Accredit stayed in front to win by a length for co-owner and trainer Pavel Matejka and co-owner Bob Grayson Jr.
Bred by Beau Lane, 3-year-old Accredit is now the winner of three of his seven starts with a second in the Listed American Derby as well for over $572,000 in earnings.
Accredit is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Sistas Stroll and four other winners out of their dam Berncredit. Berncredit herself is a half-sister to stakes winners Jake Mo and She’s All Scat and Grade 3-placed Parker Run. The family also includes Group 1 winner Sir Time Keeper.
Berncredit had a CATHOLIC BOY colt this year.
FLATTER has had an excellent 2021 with six stakes winners and 10 stakes performers led by Grade 1 winner and multiple Grade 1 runner-up Search Results.
