Flatlined Becomes Newest Stakes Winner for Flatter

Flatlined, a son of Claiborne sire FLATTER out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Buttercup’s Song, triumphed in the Old Friends Stakes Sept 8. The bay gelding took the lead off the far turn and drove home for the victory, a neck ahead of Graded Stakes horse Perfectly Majestic. He completed the turf mile and 70 yards in 1:42.98.

A winner on both dirt and turf, Flatlined is trained by Scooter Dickey and owned by Ryan Kuhn, Rodney Paden, and Brian Hytrek.

As an added bonus, race sponsor Old Friends donated a guaranteed spot at their farm to the winner of the race upon retirement, if his owners wish to accept.

This marked the third win of the year for Flatlined, second in a row, and his first stakes victory.

In winning the Old Friends Stakes, Flatlined became the 40th career stakes winner for his sire Flatter.

On the year, Flatter ranks among the nation’s top stallions with 10 stakes winners, 18 stakes horses, 5 Graded Stakes winners, 8 Graded stakes horses, 2 Grade 1 winners, and 5 Grade 1 performers.

Only Tapit and Bernardini have sired more Grade 1 horses this year.
