FIRST SAMURAI’S LAST GUNFIGHTER WINS 4TH GRADED STAKES

Winner of the Pimlico Special-G3 and Iselin S.-G3 earlier this year, LAST GUNFIGHTERearned his fourth graded stakes win of 2013 when he took the Hawthorne Gold Cup-G2 by a length. The 4-year-old son of FIRST SAMURAI was sent off the favorite in the field of eight and drew off in the final sixteenth to win the 1 1/4-mile feature under jockey Joe Bravo.  The victory pushed his earnings to $1,025,405.

A homebred racing for John D. Gunther and trained by Chad Brown, LAST GUNFIGHTER has eight wins, three seconds, and two thirds from 15 starts.  He was bred in Kentucky and is out of the Sir Cat mare Saratoga Cat.
