First Crop DEMARCHELIER (GB) Runners Looking Picture Perfect

The only son of Dubawi (Ire) standing in Kentucky, DEMARCHELIER (GB) quickly made his case as another emerging superstar by the stallion with his first juveniles putting him near the top of his class in 2023.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) saw 34 runners make at least one start in 2023, with his 12 winners giving him a 35.29% winners to starters rate. His 12 winners were joined by a further 10 placers to give him 64.71% placers to runner from that first two-year-old crop as well. That put him fourth best of the Kentucky freshmen (more than 10 runners) with 35% or more winners.

The impressive statistics don’t stop there, however. A Grade 3 winner on the turf, DEMARCHELIER (GB) also registered the second highest number of turf winners of his crop with seven.

His seven winners put him just one winner behind studmate CATHOLIC BOY among North American freshmen, with that one registering a generation-best eight winners. In all, DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) 28% winners to turf starters was the third best of any North American freshman with 10 or more starters.

Sitting 16th by number of turf winners among all North American and European freshmen, his 28% win percentage is 11th best in the group of those with 25 or more runners. DEMARCHELIER (GB) also registered the 19th most turf winners of any Northern Hemisphere freshman.

As the sire of two stakes performers, DEMARCHELIER (GB) is one of 16 Dubawi (Ire) sons to sire at least one Northern Hemisphere-foaled stakes performer.

But he is in an even more exclusive group as one of only nine to sire at least one juvenile stakes performer from his first crop. Those placers came in both France – where De Sica finished second in the Prix de Conde (G3) – and the U.S., with Blue Creek earning two stakes placings.

DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) 3-year-olds have already come out running in 2024 with his six winners second best of any second-crop sires.

Registering a 27.3% winners-to-runners rate with his 3-year-olds through the first month of the year, he also leads all 15 second crop sires with more than 10 runners by percentage of winners this year.
