The versatility of RUNHAPPY runners was on full display Sunday when his first crop runners Grand Ave Girl and Joyful Cadence won on turf and dirt respectively.
Grade 3-placed Joyful Cadence took her record to 2-from-2 on the year early in the afternoon at Oaklawn Park when racing over six furlongs on the dirt. Keeping pressure on Perfect Happiness throughout the first half of the race, Joyful Cadence grabbed the lead with a furlong left to go and pulled away from there.
The 4-year-old won by three lengths with the third placed runner five lengths behind. It’s the third win and sixth top three finish in eight starts for the filly, who took her record to $242,167 in career earnings.
An hour later in Florida, Grand Ave Girl won her second race of the year when racing over a mile on the turf. Much like Joyful Cadence, she pressed the pace throughout before the leader gave in with a quarter left to run. Grand Ave Girl’s work wasn’t done though. She had to dig deep to hold on near the line with a neck victory.
Grand Ave Girl broke her maiden in November on Gulfstream Park’s synthetic track and has two other wins in her four starts since that victory, The 4-year-old is now the earner of $131,125 in earnings with seven top three finishes in her eight career starts.
RUNHAPPY is having another stellar season with his runners including four stakes performers and two stakes winners.
