Keeneland’s marathon yearling sale continued today with big numbers. The overall average was up 14.56% and median up 20%.
War Front once again led the Claiborne charge with two colts bring over a million each. Hip 571 out of Prize Catch was hammered down for $1.9 million to Shadwell. Earlier in the day, Hip 467 (by War Front o/o multiple G1 winner Love And Pride) sold for $1.3 million, also to Shadwell. All told, eight War Front yearlings found new homes this afternoon with all of them bringing six-figures, and 7 of the 8 bringing over $500,000.
Leading 3rd-crop sire, BLAME, sent two yearlings through the ring, led by Hip 569, a colt purchased for $350,000.
Freshman sire ORB had three yearlings sell for six-figures on the day, with Hip 430 going for $450,000.
Among those consigned by Claiborne, Hip 535, a colt by Ghostzapper and half brother to talented 2yo Grades Stakes horse Recruiting Ready (by Algorithms) sold for $300,000.
The sale will take a day off Thursday from selling and will resume Friday.
