BLAME’S Sibayan added a second straight Group 2 win to his record on Saturday when he won the Grand Prix de Deauville (G2) in France.
Cutting back just over a furlong from his last start in this 1 ½ mile turf race, the Aga Khan-bred broke well before settling a few lengths off the leader soon out of the gate. He stayed in that midpack spot a few paths off the rail throughout the middle running as he waited for his time to strike in the stretch.
That time came coming into the final quarter mile when the talented gelding raced to the front and left everyone behind when racing to a three-length victory.
Trained by Francis Henri Graffard, the 4-year-old has won three stakes and placed in two others in his career.
He is one of two winners from two to race out of the stakes winning Sirrin, whose stakes winning dam Sindirana also produced Group 3 placed Doyeni and the dam of Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Sonaiyla.
This is the extended family of four-time Group 1 winner Sinndar, Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Marie’s Diamond, and stakes winner and Group 1-placed Sikandarabad.
BLAME is set for an exciting few weeks with the stallion having 31 entries at the upcoming Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
