ARCH Gets Stakes Horses at Gulfstream and Santa Anita

Making her first start in four months, multiple Graded stakes winner WATERWAY RUN put in a solid performance to finish runner-up, beaten less than two lengths, in the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf S. Racing 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park, the daughter of ARCH was never far back, moved up to second after a half, and kept the pressure on the eventual winner the rest of the way to the wire. Last year, WATERWAY RUN won Belmont’s Beaugay S.-G3 and was runner-up, beaten a nose, in Tampa Bay’s Hillsborough S.-G3. At two, she won Newmarket’s Sakhee Oh So Sharp S.-G3. Bred by Dorothy A. Matz, WATERWAY RUN is trained by Chad Brown for owner Martin S. Schwartz.

BLINGISMYTHING, another daughter of ARCH, rallied along the rail inside the final furlong to finish runner-up, beaten just 1/2 length, in Santa Anita’s Megahertz S. at a mile on the turf. Last year, BLINGISMYTHING won two out of three starts and was just two lengths behind the winner in the Grade 3 Robert J. Frankel S., finishing seventh. She has won or placed in six of seven starts, including a debut Maiden Special Weight win at Hollywood Park, running a mile on the turf in a sharp 1:35 2/5. Bred in Kentucky by Jack Swain, BLINGISMYTHING is owned by Class Racing Stable and is trained by Eric Kruljac.
