Claiborne stallions saw good results throughout the Keeneland September Yearling Sale with yearlings by both established and new Claiborne stallions catching the eye during the 12-session sale.
BLAME’s September sale was led by a $350,000 purchase by Steve Young. The colt was offered by Scott Mallory on behalf of Determined Stud.
Out of the two-time winning Don’tforgetaboutme, the yearling received an update when his Grade 2 winning half-brother Crupi registered a second Grade 1 placing in the Whitney S. (G1). He is also a half-brother to the Grade 3-placed Royal Spirit among the three winners from five to race out of their dam.
Don’tforgetaboutme is a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Red Ruby, Grade 3 winner Mo Tom, stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Beautician, and stakes winner Bella Castani from the five stakes performers hailing from Caroni, who produced 11 winners from 13 runners overall.
Alistair Roden Bloodstock went to $300,000 for a filly out of Quippery to become the most expensive BLAME filly of thesale during Book 3.
Consigned by Highgate Sales, the filly is a full sister to Grade 3 winner Beyond Blame and half-sister to the stakes-placed Blamethechampagne among the five winners from six to race out of their dam. Beyond Blame has also produced the Grade 1-placed Loggins as a broodmare. A winner herself, Quippery is a half-sister to the Grade 3 winners Bellera and Life Imitates Art out of the multiple Grade 2 placed Habiboo.
The filly also hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Street Boss and Jack Christopher among others.
BLAME’s other yearlings brought $270,000, $240,000, $200,000, etc. for an average of $95,250 for 34 sold throughout the two week sale.
Three Amigos bought the most expensive SILVER STATE of the sale during the sixth session when going to $260,000 for a colt out of Tanasi.
Offered by Taylor Made Farm, the colt is a half-brother to one winner from one to race out of his five-time winning dam. Tanasi is a half-sister to the stakes winner Choctaw Ridge and to the dam of Grade 1 winners Paulassilverlining and Dads Cap.
Tanasi stakes placed half-sister Liza Too is also the dam of the multiple stakes winner Long Weekend with another half-sister producing the stakes winning Miss Interpret. Peruvian champion Esidio and Grade 2 winner Boone’s Mill are also under the colt’s stakes winning third dam.
This colt joins a pair of $250,000 SILVER STATE yearlings who sold during the first two books of the sale.
WAR FRONT was the sire of a $325,000 colt offered by Indian Creek out of Dark Lightning early in the sale.
Purchased by Legion Bloodstock, who was agent for Hoolie Racing, the colt is the second foal out of the Speightstown mare Dark Lightning. That mare is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winning Killer Graces, Grade 2 winner Chocolate Ride, and the stakes placed Rocking Heather. Killer Graces has also proven to be a top broodmare as the dam of Grade 1 winner Killer Ability and stakes placed Killer Presence.
Under the colt’s third dam are multiple champion Hakeem and the dam of Grade 1 winner There Goes Harvard among others.
WAR FRONT yearlings sold for $325,000, $275,000, $240,000, etc. at the sale with 10 of his 11 yearlings offered sold at the sale.
BSW/Crow purchased a $180,000 WAR OF WILL filly at Keeneland September to top the stallion’s offerings.
Offered by Moreau Bloodstock, the filly is a half-sister to the stakes placed Ole Crazy Bones, who is one of three runners out of stakes placed Southern Gem. Southern Gem comes by her producing power honestly as one of two stakes performers out of stakes winner Cherie Yvonne, who also produced the Grade 3-placed Guns On the Table with Cherie Yvonne producing six winners overall.
Each dam on this filly’s page has produced at least one stakes performer with each of her first three dams also earning their own blacktype.
WAR OF WILL also saw yearlings sell for $175,000, $120,000, etc throughout the two-week sale.
