The Brigade Fifth Winner For WAR OF WILL

Third on debut, WAR OF WILL’s The Brigade went two better at Colonial Downs on Thursday with a Maiden Special Weight victory in his second start.

The juvenile was first out of the gate, but was happy to take up a spot as one of the back markers in the one-mile turf race under Emisael Jaramillo. It wasn’t until the stretch that he got serious in the running . He took command inside the final furlongs and started to easily pull away for a two-length victory in the end.

Trained by Mark Casse for Gary Barber and Pantofel Stable, the Jack Swain-bred is out of the Grade 3-placed Dido.

That mare is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Noble Bird and stakes winner Brother Pat among the four winners out of Anyhow. The family also includes BLAME’s Grade 1 winner Marley’s Freedom among others.

WAR OF WILL’s five juvenile winners is better than established stallions such as Nyquist, Violence, and Uncle Mo and also puts him fifth among all first crop sires by number of winners.
