It was another winner for DEMARCHELIER (GB) on Sunday when Royal Wintour impressed at Gulfstream Park.
Making her second start after finishing second on debut, Royal Wintour stalked the pace early in the one-mile turf race just a length away from the leader. She steadily moved closer down the backstretch, until she was pouring the pressure on the pacesetter as they raced into the turn.
The filly was determined to get the lead and after a brief duel did exactly that and had command coming into the stretch. It was easy sailing from there with no one able to catch her as Royal Wintour pulled away to win by 2 ¼ lengths with the third placed runner five lengths behind the winner.
The Don Robinson and Allen Schubert-bred was a $95,000 2-year-old last year and is trained by Graham Motion for Newstead Stables.
Royal Wintour’s Grade 3 winning dam Quiet Royal is the dam of Grade 3 winner Quiet Force among her five winners. Quiet Royal is a half-sister to Grade 3 winners Sandwaki and Acago as well. This is also the family of dual Grade 1 winner Dare And Go and Grade 1 winner Go Deputy as well.
DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) eight 2024 winners on the turf is five better than the runner up second crop sire while his 10 winners on both surfaces puts him eighth in his generation.
