It was another winner for CATHOLIC BOY on Friday when No Cost broke her maiden at Delta Downs going 6 ½ furlongs on the dirt.
Racing in midpack about four lengths behind the leader, No Cost steadily moved through the field as she raced down the backstretch. It was half-way through the backstretch run when she turned serious and started hunting down the leader.
At the top of the stretch, she drew even with the leader and pulled away from there to romp home 4 ½ lengths in front at the wire.
Trained by Isai Gonzalez for Anthony Tate, the Bradley Purcell-breds record has seen her finish in the top three in five of seven starts.
The 3-year-old is one of four winners from four runners out of Cost. That mare is a half-sister to multiple grade stakes winner Tax and out of a daughter of multiple graded stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Yell.
Other descendants from Yell include dual Grade 1 winner Elate, stakes winner Cheery, and two other stakes performers.
CATHOLIC BOY sits third among all second crop sires this year by winners and is ninth among the crop by number of cumulative winners with 15.
