BLAME’s stakes winning Saiydabad added a Group victory to his resume on Sunday with a win in the Prix du Prince d’Orange (G3) at Parislongchamp over 1 ¼ miles on the turf.
The 3-year-old Aga Khan homebred was quick into stride on the turf to race in the second flight just behind the leaders. As Mond set the pace, Saiydabad dropped back a few lengths but was still close behind and ready to strike when Christophe Soumillion gave him the cue.
That came as the field flew into the last 2 ½ furlongs and he was swung wide to have clear running room in front of him.
Lord Charming gave the colt a challenge inside the last furlong but Saiydabad had more to give and won by a head in the end.
The Jean-Claude Rouget trainee was taking his record to four wins from six starts, including a Listed victory earlier this year. The colt was only three lengths behind top European 3-year-old St. Mark’s Basilica and just a nose away from finishing third in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (G1) in his fourth start.
The BLAME son is out of Group 3 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Sarkiyla, who is also a half-sister to the dam of Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Gold Trip and stakes-placed Got Wind. Saiydabad is just the latest in a long line of successful homebreds in the family as a 10th generation Aga Khan-bred.
Saiydabad is the 18th graded stakes winner for BLAME, whose stakes percentages are among the best of any active North American sire.
