Beaten only a neck in her debut at Belmont, ALTO BELLE ran away from her competition at Aqueduct to win a Maiden Special Weight by 18 1/2 lengths. Going a mile on the muddy main track, the eighth first crop 2-year-old winner for TRAPPE SHOT bobbled a little at the start but soon took the lead. She was 4 1/2 lengths in front after six furlongs and just continued to put distance between herself and her rivals as she widened the margin to the wire. In her debut, ALTO BELLE was more than 12 lengths in front of the third-place finisher going 1 1/16 miles in an off-the-turf Maiden Special Weight. Out of the stakes-winning Katy Now, ALTO BELLE was bred by James Brady’s Mill House, who also raced TRAPPE SHOT. She is trained by Todd Pletcher for Alto Racing.
