WAR OF WILL Sophomore Wins Again at Santa Anita

It was a second win in three starts this year for WAR OF WILL’s Earned Not Given on Saturday with a 1 ¾ length victory as the favorite at Santa Anita.

The one-mile turf race saw Earned Not Given with just one horse beat early when he raced over five lengths behind. As the field moved closer to the far turn, Earned Not Given crept to be close to the leaders for a perfect shot at striking when the time was right.

That time came in the lane when the gelding came up the leaders’ outside with just under an eighth left. There wasn’t much time for the leaders to react with Earned Not Given pulling away to win by 1 ¾ lengths and only the second and third placed horses finishing within nine lengths of him at the end.

Trained by Mark Glatt for Muir Hut Stables, Earned Not Given has won two of his four career starts with a second place on his resume as well.

A $380,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale purchase by his racing owner, Earned Not Given was bred by D.J. Stable out of Excuses Begone.

That mare is the dam of two winners from two to race and is out of multiple stakes winner Stopshoppingdebbie. A nine-time winner, Stopshoppingdebbie produced the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Generous Tipper. Earned Not Given’s stakes winning third dam Taste The Passion produced three stakes winners herself with all three going on to produce stakes winners.

WAR OF WILL is the sire of 21 winners with his runners including seven stakes performers.
