It was an impressive third winner in two days for SILVER STATE on Saturday when Synoptic put in a performance to remember with a 20 ¾ length maiden victory at Sam Houston.
The Winchell Thoroughbreds homebred went to the lead nearly immediately in the seven-furlong dirt race and entered a brief duel. The other runner backed off and let Synoptic get about a length in front down the backstretch before the 3-year-old really kicked into gear.
Leaving the field behind around the turn, she only had nine lengths on the field approaching the final furlong but even when geared down added another 11 ¾ lengths to the margin by the time she hit the line. Going off as the heavy favorite, she was indeed much the best in the race.
Trained by Steve Asmuussen, Synoptic has hit the board in three of her five starts with runs at four different tracks.
Synoptic is one of two winners out of the stakes placed Decant, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Coffee In Bed and Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Great Stuff. This family also includes Grade 1 winner Fionn among the 11 stakes performers under Synoptic’s first three dams.
On Friday, SILVER STATE’s El Consistente extended his win streak to five races with Smiling Rosie breaking her maiden only a few hours before Synoptic on Saturday.
