Onus (Blame) sets another course record

Onus, the daughter of Claiborne Farm sire Blame, set her 3rd career course record in winning the Lady Baltimore Stakes Sept 10th. It was the 5th win for the speedy gray filly who was bred and is raced by Stuart S. Janney, III under trainer Shug McGaughey.

The victory in the Lady Baltimore Stakes pushed her career earnings to over $318,000. Earlier this year, Onus set a new course record at Belmont. Last year, she demolished a field of maidens to win her debut by 8 lengths, while setting the course record at Laurel Park, the first of three record breaking performances.

On Saturday, she went four wide around the far turn and drew clear to win easily by 1 1/4 lengths, completing the 1 1/16 miles on turf in a record 1:39.87.

This was the 2nd stakes win of her career, adding to her victory in the Commonwealth Oaks (G3) last September.
