It was a new WAR OF WILL winner on Saturday when the David Donk-trained Just Clarity won an Aqueduct maiden in his third start.
Racing six furlongs on a sealed track, Just Clarity broke from the two-hole and happily tracked the leader from that spot. The race favorite was always within striking distance and took advantage of that positioning with just over a quarter left to run.
Taking the lead at that point, he had plenty of work left to do with another runner pushing him down the stretch. It wasn’t until the final sixteenth that he was able to extend his margin, winning by 1 ¾ lengths.
Racing for Joseph Bucci, the McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds-bred is out of the Grade 3-placed Trappe Shot mare Quick Release. The colt’s fourth dam is the champion Safely Kept.
This was the 15th winner for WAR OF WILL, whose runners include three stakes performers.
