In just ten starters in his first crop, IRONICUS now has an undefeated burgeoning star in Helium. Coming off an impressive debut win on Sept. 27th, two-year-old colt Helium returned to the winner’s circle on Oct. 18th after a professional performance in the Display Stakes at Woodbine – becoming IRONICUS’s first stakes winner.
Going seven furlongs on the all-weather track under pilot Emma-Jayne Wilson, the juvenile son of IRONICUS broke well and settled near the middle of the pack. Helium went three-wide around the far turn, closed in on the lead and took control one furlong from home when called upon by Wilson, then kept charging. A dominant effort for trainer Mark Casse and owner D. J. Stable, Helium crossed the wire in a final time of 1:22.62, more than four lengths in front.
Bred in Kentucky by Teneri Farm Inc. and Bernardo Alvarez Calderon, Helium is out of Thundering Emilia (Thunder Gulch), making him a half-sibling to Grade 1 winner in Peru Emilia’s Moon, TDN Rising Star and graded-stakes-placed Mighty Scarlett, and King Daddy, a two-year-old stakes winner in Peru.
