DEMARCHELIER (GB) Filly Leads Sire’s Juveniles With $230,000 Price Tag at OBS Spring

The only son of Dubawi (Ire) standing in Kentucky and one of only two in the country, DEMARCHELIER (GB) is proving to be popular with breeders and buyers as his first crop prepares to hit the racetrack. That was on full display at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training sale this week, led by a $230,000 filly.

One of the best workers during the Under Tack Sale when stopping the clock in :9.4, DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) daughter out of Treasured brought $230,000 late in the sale.

That filly was snapped up for $230,000 by Gainesway Farm as part of Niall Brennan’s consignment after going through the ring as a weanling as well. A Leverett Miller-bred, the filly has strong roots to Claiborne as granddaughter of the late Claiborne stalwart Arch. Arch’s daughter Treasured is full sister to British stakes winner Desert Phantom and stakes placed Mercilla.

A well-bred filly, she has many familiar names on her page with those including champion Blue Prize, Grade 1 winners Blue Stripe and Knock and Grade 2 winners Far Away Love and Blues For Sale. In all, third dam Dancer’s Saga is the matriarch of a family that includes 13 stakes winners and six other stakes performers.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) was also the sire of a $90,000 colt out of Pilamaya sold during the third session.

Another offered by Niall Brennan, the New York-bred colt was snapped up by Joseph Migliore as agent. It was the juvenile’s first time through the ring with the colt putting in a good performance at the Under Tack show with a :10.1. furlong.

The colt is a half-brother to nine race winner Grudge and three-time winner Palace Gossip among his dam’s six winners. Three of the four mares listed on the page are either stakes producers or the dams of stakes producers with multiple graded stakes winners named among the horses on his page.

DEMARCHELIER (GB) has seen four of his seven juveniles to appear in the ring sell at an average of $85,500 and a median over 10 times DEMARCHELIER’s (GB) stud fee.
