Claiborne-sired Exacta in the Possibly Perfect Stakes

It was a “Claiborne-sired exacta” in Sunday’s Possibly Perfect Stakes at Santa Anita Park.

Coming off of a strong AOC score last month at the track, Dogtag (WAR FRONT) was the odds on favorite for the ten furlong stakes test on the turf. Running midpack, the daughter of WAR FRONT rallied four wide down the stretch to win going away by over a length, completing the circuit in 2:00.69 for trainer Richard Mandella and jockey Flavian Prat. Dogtag now has earnings of nearly $250,000 with three stakes wins to her name. Bred in Kentucky by owner/breeder LNJ Foxwoods, she is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Diamond Necklace from the immediate family of influential sires Street Cry (IRE) and Shamardal.

Rounding out the exacta was a daughter of BLAME. Don’t Blame Judy raced towards the rear of the field throughout the lively fractions, and followed eventual winner Dogtag home down the stretch, gamely holding second by a head. Conditioned by Eric Kruljac and ridden by Tiago Pereira, it was her first stakes-placing for owners R. Albert, E. Dunham, F. Lewkowitz, K. Lewkowitz, and J. Sondereker. Bred in Kentucky by Michael Waresk Cane Street Stables, she is out of the El Corredor mare Zultanite.
