BLAME Named Thoroughbred Daily News ‘Value Sire’

It was another “Value Sire” recognition for BLAME in 2026 with the stallion named as one of Thoroughbred Daily News’ “The 20-Somethings Value Sires.”

Put in the Bronze space for this year, BLAME comes into 2026 with six stakes winners and 12 stakes performers led by a Group 1 winner last year.

“Of course, BLAME is a thoroughly competent sire of runners in his own right. In 2025 he notched his seventh elite scorer, over in Europe, while GII Oak Leaf Stakes winner Explora only narrowly failed to reel in the winner in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. His current tally of 54 stakes winners and 25 at graded level represent extremely solid ratios: 6.5 and 3.0 percent of named foals. That puts him essentially level with Constitution and Twirling Candy, to name just two sires too excellent to be embarrassed by the comparison,” said Chris McGrath.

To back up his own runners’ success on the track, BLAME has also proven to be an outstanding broodmare sire with his daughters’ 32 stakes winners and 50 stakes performers led by seven Grade 1 winners.

Four of those came in 2025 with 20 stakes performers overall last year. Those four Grade 1 winners put him behind only Distorted Humor among North American broodmare sires in 2025 with his 2.01% Grade 1 winners to starters the best of any North American broodmare sire.

That has led to BLAME fillies becoming hot commodities in the sales ring, making him a hit both on the track and in the sales ring.

“The fact is that enough people have now cottoned onto BLAME’s particular strength to contest his nicer fillies quite avidly. Though the most expensive of the crop, at $475,000, was actually a colt, the next seven (between $110,000 and $370,000) were all fillies. Stick or twist, race or sell, at least half the time BLAME can be a win-win scenario,” he said.
