Making her racing debut for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Al Shaqab Racing, AL KHAZAALIYA made a good first impression with a three-length win in this 1 1/16-mile Maiden Special Weight score on the turf at Gulfstream Park West. This 2-year-old filly from the first crop of Champion BLAME broke from post four in an 11-horse field but was well reserved off the pace , sitting nearly 11 lengths off the lead after the first half. AL KHAZAALIYA circled the field on the far turn and into the stretch and closed through the lane and won going away. The $275,000 Fasig-Tipton Florida Sales grad was bred in Kentucky by Elm Tree Farm LLC & Popatop LLC out of the Tactical Cat mare Erhu. She is the sixth first-crop winner for her sire.
