Two Stakes Horses on the East Coast Saturday for WAR FRONT

G1 SW PEACE AND WAR put in a strong closing kick to finish runner-up in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks, beaten less than two lengths. The 3-year-old filly by WAR FRONT was making her second start for trainer Graham Motion after previously being trained by Olly Stevens. She was coming out of a runner-up finish in the Our Mims S. on June 3rd. Last year, PEACE AND WAR won Keeneland’s Darley Alcibiades S.-G1 in her first start in the U.S. after making the first three career starts in Great Britain.

Multiple stakes winner SOUPER COLOSSAL nearly went wire-to-wire in his runner-up finish in the 1 1/16-mile Long Branch S. at Monmouth Park. The 3-year-old colt by WAR FRONT set the pace at the outset, turned back a challenger on the far turn, then dug in gamely through the stretch to finish just 1 1/4 lengths back, but almost six lengths in front of the third-place horse. This year, SOUPER COLOSSAL won the Texas Glitter S. at Gulfstream in his seasonal debut. He was then off for four months and returned to be runner-up in the Select S., his last start prior to the Long Branch. Last year at two, SOUPER COLOSSAL won his first three starts, including the Sapling S. (by 5 1/2 lengths) and the Tyro S. (by 3 3/4 lengths). He has now finished first or second in six of seven career starts.
