2YO RICHMOND COUNTY WINS MSW AT BELMONT

RICHMOND COUNTY, a 2-year-old colt from the second crop of FIRST SAMURAI, won a seven-furlong Maiden Special Weight on the turf at Belmont Park on September 11. Making only his second start, he was sent right to the front from post six, was 2 1/2 lengths in front at the top of the stretch, and continued to hold the lead reaching the wire with only hand encouragement to win by 1 1/2 lengths.

The son of a leading second crop sire by Giant’s Causeway was bred in Kentucky by Richlyn Stables, is owned by Richlyn Farms and trained by George Weaver.
