It was a big day at Kentucky Downs for WAR OF WILL on Sunday when the stallion not only registered his third stakes performer but also earned a new winner when Will Not Be Swayed won a Maiden Special Weight.
Racing over 6 ½ furlongs, the filly went off as the race favorite and raced in midpack a few paths off the rail early on. She shifted in a few paths around the turn before moving back to the outside in the stretch.
It didn’t take long for Will Not Be Swayed to take over the lead and Flavien Prat didn’t have to do much in the closing stages as his mount won by six lengths with her ears pricked.
The filly is trained by Brad Cox for Full of Run Racing and Ten Strike Racing and has finished in the top two in all three of her starts.
She is the first foal out of Not Swayed, a half-sister to the stakes placed Edgemont Road and to the dam of the Grade III-placed Yesternight. This is also the family of Grade 1 winner Frost Giant and Grade 2 winners Golden Hind and Kavanagh among others.
Now the sire of three stakes performers, WAR OF WILL sits third in that category and sixth by number of winners with eight.
