WAR FRONT’s Full Count Felicia returned to the winner’s circle this weekend with a victory in the Canadian Stakes (G2) at Woodbine on Saturday.
The WAR FRONT daughter wasn’t the fastest out of the gate in the 1 1/8-mile turf race, but that didn’t stop her from going straight to the front in the race. The 5-year-old relaxed as she raced unopposed early on before steadily pulling away.
Still well in hand in the turn, Full Count Felicia was just given mild encouragement in the stretch to win by 2 ¾ lengths in the end.
Trained by Kevin Attard for Gold Square, this is the second graded stakes victory for the 5-year-old, who has won or placed in nine of her 17 starts for $426,310 in earnings.
“She’s a nice filly,” said Josh Attard, son of Kevin Attard. “She’s been training exceptionally well, going into this race. You know, she ran a good race last time, from off the layoff, and we were expecting a big performance today.”
Bred by Joseph Allen, the filly is out of the stakes-placed Claire de Lune, who has two winners from three to race – all by WAR FRONT.
Claire de Lune is a half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Cerulean Sky, who produced Irish champion Honolulu, and Grade 1 winner Moonstone, who produced multiple group winners as well. In all, Claire de Lune’s dam produced eight stakes performers.
WAR FRONT is striking at a 12% stakes performers to runners in 2024, led by six stakes winners.
